Paragraph 17.2 of the App Store Review Guidelines states:
"Apps that require users to share personal information, such as email address and date of birth, in order to function will be rejected."
We produce music management and display software for the PC and are developing an iOS app for a client who is a music publisher. This publisher makes their music available free of charge to anyone, as long as they register an account on their website. The app will be free and contains the publisher's catalog (~50 songs) for offline use.
When the app is run for the first time, the user must sign in using their account to be able to use the app. Is this in violation of this policy? The publisher does not want to make their music available to non-registered users.
Also, as we offer similar software that the user might be interested in, we collect their email address from the publisher when they log in and send them our newsletter. The user is clearly informed of this on the login screen, but again, is this in violation of the policy?
I do not want to start a new thread for this but will Apple reject an iPad app that does not support the Apple wireless keyboard? In this app a custom number entry system is used and the standard keyboard is never used.
If anyone has experience with this and would like to share, I appreciate it.

What do you mean Apple Wireless keyboard? You use own software keyboard for enter? Why they should refuse your app if your app function this way? I don't think they will refuse your app as long as your software keyboard generate special characters.
