Default [iTC Shutdown] iTunes Connect is closed for the holidays.. why?!

First of all, of course Apple employees should take the time off around christmas and newyears, I'm all for it. And I can understand that this means that the approval process is on hold and we can't submit new apps. Fine.

But why can't we get any sales figures for an entire week!? Seriously, the app store is up and running for 3 and a half years now. You'd think it's all automated, apparently it's not..

Does this really imply that summing up the sales figures is done by hand!? Can't Apple, one of the biggest software companies, write code to sum up sales figures? Or am I missing something here?

You are missing something. You should read other posts before saying you cannot download sales figures. Sorry if that sounds harsh.

That's okay and it doesn't sound harsh. I had already downloaded my sales figures using the Auto-Ingest Tool (the java Autoingestion.class) and I just now checked that thread and saw there's a backdoor link to get to the sales figures.

That's an interesting workaround. But that still doesn't explain why there is a big "sorry we're closed" sign on the iTunesConnect page.

Apple could change the iTunesConnect homepage to a holidays-version. For example with just the "Sales and Trends" option, and no "Manage Applications" option.

I guess iTC is spaghetti code and it's not possible to disable only a part of it.

Probably beacause of all the manual work as review new app's and so on.. Maybe it was just easier to close down the whole section than just a part of it..

My take on this:

- Reports are automatically generated, always. (hence the: "please do not trust this data" warning)
- Financials are reviewed manually instead.
- Apple doesn't want to expose data possibly de-synchronized.
- iTunes spaghetti code left a backdoor opened anyway.
