Could it be just my own imagination or are apps more
expensive nowadays?
I've been buying quite a few apps recently, and good
apps start at 3 US$, some even 7-9 US$ (password
encryption, productivity apps,...), GTA 3 4US$ (ok its universal),...
most games from 2 US $
And did people find out, that 99% of 1$ app probably suck, and
will only buy more expensive apps in hope for better quality?
I'm asking because I will release a nice app soon
and don't know if i should also charge 3 US$
or just 1 $ or even more?

I guess someone sooner or later will do some kind of statistics on this subject...
From my experience - yeah, I charge more. My Goal-Setting Workshop cost $1.99 last year (and some friends said it should be $.99), right now it's $3.99, earns 10x as much, and I'm considering bumping the price to $4.99.
My competitors seem to also have bumped their prices to $3.99.
When it comes to smaller apps, I usually start pricing with $1.99 instead of $.99. The funny thing is - they sell at that price!
the average price increase every year because developper can't live by selling 1$ app, or can't have a budget to do proper game (and don't say angry bird can.. it's the exception that confirm the rule).
Game quality increase -> developpement budget increase -> price increase.
I think it really depends. I was looking for some todo-apps, like Omnifocus $19.99, or "Things" ($9.99) or others, and they seem to be more expensive. Depends on the category and whether they are universal or not.
@Merlin: Your Goal-Setting Workshop app looks really great, I will give it a try :-)
