Default iPhone4s: impact on sales?

We've seen a very nice +33% today, and it looks like it's going up today.

Happy times, although not the revolution, yet, someone might have hoped!

What i do not understand is why people think it will be a great revolution. The majority are upgrades if they have bought an app they are not going to again just because a new phone. And if they have not bought an app one of two things. One they have not seen the app or do not want it. buying a new phone will not change that. So sales should not change in any great scale. This is not a new product launch with all new software versions where they have to start from scratch.

Umm.. the iPhone 4S is bringing in a lot of new iPhone users.

It's only been out two days and looking at my new users report right now I can tell you today's (Saturday) sales are going to be very good as well. Looking at probably another 30-40% increase over last Saturday.

if 30 - 40 % is a revolution well then wow. Shooting low LOL ...... If you noticed i commented about the revolution portion not a small pop in sales.

I don't consider 30 - 40% a "small pop". That's a pretty significant increase.

Yes, earnings were almost double for me for the 13th Oct sales. No IAP. Could be the first kind of apps that 4S users would want.

30% in one day it's a kind of revolution if that is sustained.

Any business or stock would kill to have a 10% return per year, so I think 30% overnight it's huge, but as I said, not quite revolutionary if it's only a glitch.

Anyway if APPL stock would bump 30% overnight that would have been the biggest increase in the company history, so think it in those terms. And 30% in any market your can think of, it's huge anyway.

If you consider 30% from $10 to $13 well yeah, it won't matter too much.
If you consider it on the whole multi-billionaire market, then oh yes!

I can confirm my sales were also up about 30%. I guess it's relative, but I consider a 30% increase (especially if sustained) a pretty big deal since that would effectively nullify Apples cut before the 4S.

Saw a 32.3% increase for Saturday compared to last Saturday. That said, it's probably not sustainable for long.

Very large increase for me. I went from $25 per day on average to $56. Best of all: I got some updates in works, and even a possible new App.

Hope everything goes as planned. The 4S may not be a big upgrade, but it took 16 months to release. Many were out of their contract. Not to mention the addition of Sprint.

Nothing significant for me.

I saw a bump in updates.

I assume, people, who upgraded their device, looked at their "purchased" list and downloaded apps again, which they didn't have since a long time on their devices and tried them on the new one probably checking the performance increase (3G and 3GS users).

Me too, basically more updates not too much else. I had see a nice jump on Monday / Tuesday but it was probably a random event.

Seeing a big bump here too, sales this Saturday for our iPhone version are triple what they've been for the past 4 Saturdays.

Although I'm not sure how much of that has to do with the iPhone 4S vs other factors (we have a new, unrelated app in New & Noteworthy).

Had another 25% bump in Saturday's sales, maybe the effect of first weekend after 4S launch.

I saw a 3x increase in updates. I think you're right. My feeling is there are a lot of 3GS users who upgraded to the 4S and "rediscovered" their iPhone by downloading new apps and updating existing apps they forgot about. When people get a new toy, they tend to play with it for a few days at least. A 3GS to a 4GS is a pretty nice upgrade.

The thing is, at least for me, these sales are about what they were prior to August. I don't see this bump as a new high point, I see it as sales returning to their previous levels. I believe we've been in a slump since late July / early August. Remember last year a new iPhone came out in July.

My hope is that the 4S sales maintain a momentum through the holidays. Remember that Thanksgiving is only a month away and Christmas a month after that.
