Hi guys,
My apps sell quite well and I think I can afford to use some paid advertising right now. The question is - where do I spend the money?
The app I'd like to promote:
Name: Goal-Setting Workshop
Category: Productivity
Description: Helps people to find out their goals
url: App Store - Goal Setting Workshop + simple habits and goals tracker
(btw, guys from Dev SDK - if anybody wants a promo code, let me know
So, the question is: where do I advertise?
The most basic things that come to my mind are Facebook, Reddit, LinkedIn & Google Adwords. But perhaps there is something else? Any tips&tricks? Any helpful articles on the subject?
Also: does anybody have any experience with using iTunes affiliate program to track conversion ratios of ads? iTunes aff. program pays commission on purchases made by a refferal link, so my guess would be that I can use it to track how many people *bought* the app after clicking the ads.

Get your family out and buy them some pizzas in a nice place. You'll feel soooo much better then flushing $200 down the toilet, and you'll have a nice evening together also, you can't beat that

200 is not going to get you anything worth while i have to agree that you are just throwing 200 out the window
So, to get things clear - you guys are saying, that there is no point paying AdMob & any other company that handles advertising, and only large-scale operations (I guess branding the whole sites?) is worthwhile?
My app costs $3.99, so even with $.50 PPC I might be above break-even.

Advertising at 200.00 is a waste if you are planning to spend at the least 10 - 20 times that, then you are starting to enter real advertising and the ability to be truly seen.

10-20x? Try at least 100-200x, then you are probably at the low end of what major companies spend to get on the charts.

Think it this way, you go to eat your pizzas with your family and you ask the couple seating on the table next to yours if they want to buy your cool app.
That has got the same chance of getting _the same_ profit out of those $200 spent on ads. The good thing is, you don't have to spend $200
The sad thing is that you probably won't believe us, and you'll spend $200 on ads anyway, and a few days later you'll confirm you've just wasted $200.
