I just got first wire transfer from Apple and I'm trying to figure out how to get it taxed, meaning: where do I get the invoice for it?
Up till today I was certain that you log in to iTunes Connect and download the invoice, give it to your accountant and voilą! Now though, after going through iTunes Connect back and forth, and after reading all guides I could find, I'm beginning to suspect that everyone has to make their own invoice, covering the amount Apple transferred to the bank account.
To my frustration, I can't seem to find any info about it.
Anyone want to share this little piece of tribal knowledge?
You get an invoice if you PAY not if you receive money.
To be honest, you are the one, who SHOULD send an invoice to Apple (you can do it if you want, there is even an address on iTunes Connect for that). That's another story that apple doesn't need your invoice.
Your accountant has your bank account balance and that is what is important for the tax office.
There are many topics on taxation in this forum. I already explained many times, how we do that.
We treat apple revenue as roayalty, because in our law all software generated revenue is royalty (because you sell the right to use your software, you don't sell the software itself) and therefore we have no VAT to pay, because we declare Apple payments as net income and we pay a small tax on the profit, because royalty has a very small taxation in our country.
So you should get an accountant and find your own way in your tax law, before you pay tax unnecessarily.
If you are a privat person, then it is a whole different story again. None the less it seems, you don't even understand basic things in business (not meant to be rude or so), so you definatelly should get an accountant either way.

There is no invoice or anything. You just keep track of all the payment amounts and report it as income on your taxes. The only tax forms that you might get from apple are for iAd revenue.

Perhaps I wasn't clear in my post, I thought that, since Apple operates the whole circus, that the invoice from ME to Apple would be produced in iTunes Connect. Somehow it made sense in my mind.
I have an accountant, who I bring the invoices I create for other services the company provides. This is the first time I get the money from Apple, so I had no clue how that would work. Especially that money appeared on my bank account BEFORE any invoice was created, which I assure you, doesn't happen in Poland.
We have to create invoices for aple in Hungary by law, but we don't send them to apple.
We create them with a software authorized by the tax office.
We send the copy to them and throw the original away
That was the essence of my question. Everything in Poland is invoice based, so I thought that Apple would just generate it, since they don't have a problem with automatically pushing money to your bank account. Somehow it made sense to me at the time. I'll just tell the accountant to create an invoice to match the bank statement.
On completely unrelated note, iOS business must be quite profitable in your country, isn't it? Recently I've read that both our countries are quire far behind the rest of EU in terms of salary. Minimum monthly salary in Hungary was 280 EUR if memory serves me right and Poland was not far ahead with 340 EUR a month, quite shocking in comparison with 1100 EUR in UK and 1400 in Ireland.
To be honest, I can't write at all. I can speak a bit (forgot too much in the last 20 years) and I can read, but I had to use google for the proper spelling
I learned polish by talking. Never learned to write
Anyway...

I see
In hungary the same.
Old communists don't trust anybody, like they don't trust even themselves. :-)

Yes, you remember that right. It is a shame. They raised the prices to EU standard and they say it proudly, but they forgot the salaries.

So how did you solve the problem with Apple not sending you invoices? Local tax authorities in many European countries require those...

I think the real issue is that Apple is not paying you for services rendered, but rather they are giving you royalty payments.

Yes, you have to create your own invoice. I told this to my accountant and she found out how this invoice had to look like. It had to be a VAT zero, export invoice.
So you issue an invoice to Apple, as if it it gets paid by Apple?
But Apple does not sign anything (which a lot of countries may require), and does not provide any indication that it did anything for that specific invoice?

Not sure about other countries, but in Poland, if you issue an invoice, and pay tax associated with the income, the tax office doesn't care if the invoice was signed or what work was delivered. The tax was paid, that's the important thing.
