House Ads vs. AdMob Advertising

You know how everyone says not to run a small advertising campaign on AdMob? But sometimes you just need to try it out for yourself? I ran a $60 campaign ($50 plus an extra 20% for using AdMob revenue). 237,371 impressions later, I had 1,068 clicks. And practically no downloads for a free app. Lesson learned.

Well, I've been recently running a house ad campaign with another of my apps and I've noticed that clicks convert into a 33% to 50% download rate. Same app being advertised. I'm just running it through another of my free apps with ads. Using AdMob house ads.

Does anyone else have a similar experience?

I've noticed about 6 and a half thousand views. Does anyone else have experiences they would like to share about House Ads and their effectiveness?

I've only noticed that my house ads have a very high CTR. I'm not sure why.

How do you know how much the conversion rate is?

Right now I'm guessing. I've ran a house ad campaign and noticed that there was a distinct bump in downloads for the targeted app. That was about 25 to 33% of the house clicks. I noticed the trend over the week. It went back to normal the next week. Of course it's a free app, I could not guarantee a 25 to 33% conversion with a paid app.

When I ran a paid campaign through Ad Mob, I didn't notice a difference in downloads at all.

Of course, if someone's experience differs, I would be delighted to know.
