It is hard to compare:
- This new free app works in combination with the paid app on iOS
- Because of this companion app, the value of the iOS app has increased so it would not be fair to compare with previous day sales
- However, the best comparison may be with the lite version that works between iPhone and iPad, I get about ~200 downloads a day for that one
Wow! congratz! i was thinking about release a version for the mac store, but can't really figure out how to put a mapkit on the mac app. should probably just focus on marketing the iphone version right now...
I have a game, that I launched on iPhone in February 2010, on iPad in April 2010, and then on Mac yesterday. As the game is very similar across all formats the sales figures might be of interest to anyone looking to bring a game across from iOS to Mac.
I don't want to talk exact figures, but this may give you an idea of the size difference of the markets across devices (at least as far as educational games are concerned).
The iPad version of Brain App had day one sales of roughly 3 times as many as day one sales of the iPhone version, as the iPad version was $2.99 rather than the iPhone's $0.99 this was a significant jump in revenue too.
Day one Mac sales were roughly 5 times as many as iPad, and at the Mac version cost $4.99 this is again a significant jump in revenue for day one.
