Adverts on apps designed for children

Hi,

I've searched the forum and looked through all my Apple User Agreements but I can't find the answer.

Does Apple place any restriction on having adverts in apps designed for use by children? (I remember that each time I submit an app with iAd enabled I am asked if the app is 'primarily' aimed at those under 17 - and not sure what this means...).

Any help or experience in this area would be much appreciated.

I guess another way of me assessing this question is to ask whether any of you guys and gals on here have seen/used/worked on kids apps that serve adverts?

There's no rule against it. I don't think I've seen it done, though I have seen "upgrade" type options/buttons.

As a parent, I'm not sure I'd be a huge fan of seeing an app with ads for kids.

I have a free kid's app with ads, and the identical paid app without ads. Ratio of free to paid downloads - 400:1.
