I, for one, treat piracy as a backdoor marketing channel. I know for a fact people have bought my apps because they saw a pirated version but they themselves don't have a jailbroken phone so they just buy it.
I've thought about taking this a step further and putting crack detection code in my app and simply displaying a message asking them to please consider purchasing the app if they like it, but otherwise leave the app intact.

I'm imagining how pirates would react if it was your voice asking them to buy the app. In general, I this is the right idea. I'd love to hear back from people who tried it to see if they thought it worked.

I like the idea but I would be worried about false positives. Wouldn't want to **** off real users

I was thinking of posting a photo of my son when he was a baby and saying something like, "Every pirated copy takes food from his mouth. Please, think about the children."
