Licensing an application

I have developed an iPhone application that suits an already existing company in a way that they will be able to make a profitable business of the application.

Do any of you have experience regarding making a collaboration with an existing company or licensing the concept?

How much of the profit can I expect to get (in percent)? Is licensing the best way to get profit from the idea? How far do I have to have the application developed before licensing it?
