My latest App Call Of Duty - Ultimate Guide just got featured in the Reference New & Noteworthy category. Do you think I should be raising the price while it is there or keep it at £0.59/$0.99?
James
From my experience the category new & noteworthy features have no increase in sales at all...

It won't matter, that N&N it's totally useless.
I'd be more worried about other things if I were you...
Category featured is like the town bicycle, everyone gets a ride =)
And usually if you are featured for real you want to lower the price not raise it, but yours is already at the lowest tier.

Even if you were featured in the real new & noteworthy ... I'm not sure your app would see the boost in sales people are getting.

This topic comes up every now and then and there is a lot of speculation about it. I rather suspect that no one really knows how the Category features work.
Certainly it is not the case that everyone gets a ride; I've watched the games categories closely over a long period of time to see what I can deuce, and the apps featured near the top (top 20 for sure) are generally (with, of course, some dubious exceptions) quite excellent apps. And apps near the top tend to stay in the list for quite a long time on average
The one thing that seems to be indisputable however, is that there is no discernible effect on sales from it. This is hardly surprising since most people don't even know the list exists much less know how to access it
Ok not everyone. Butg if ur app is even the least bit noteworthy u should be on there. I've released 10 apps and every single one has been in the category new and noteworthy

One has to distinguish category N&N and overall N&N. I can't say for the first one, but when Portaball got featured in New and Noteworthy (the one you see on main page in iTunes' AppStore) in Germany and Austria it had significant boost in sales in those countries.

My app was featured in New and Noteworthy because it was released at about the same time as Black Ops which is probably why yours is featured. Every CoD app seems to be in New and Noteworthy so I would just leave the price the same.
My new app just got featured in New & Noteworthy for Puzzle and for Arcade, I think its only been on there for a day, no noticicable difference in sales yet. Game center registrations have not gone up either... Perhaps tomorrow I will see something.
If you go to appannie you can see every single place your app is listed. ours is listed in like 370 places (stores in different countries and then featured places on itunes) thats the only way I found out my app was featured. It gets about 1,200 - 1,400 a day... Not sure what the cut off is. Ours is 6th on the list, Whish it was in the top 5 because then you get that nice screen shot right on the landing page. EDIT: Its #2 now for Arcade and #3 for Puzzle games so I have a Screen shot right there when you go to those categories Ill let you know if it does anything for meh.
But most people, and myself would agree that the itunes app store is not much of a help to app sales. It seems to be about discoverability on the iphone/ipod app store.
