Default Appstore database

Anybody have any experience building/getting a database of all apps on the appstore?
There's plenty of apps and websites out there which seem to do this, so I don't think it should be too hard.
I'm sure scraping the appstore is possible, but there's gotta be lots of uncertainty in that, such as: 1) How often does the code get broken by changes to the site?; 2) Will you get blocked by apple?; 3) How long does it take to download? etc.
Anybody know of any other ways to get this kind of information, or have any tips for scraping? Thanks!
