Unhappy New Version of an app rejected. Delete previous version? [no update]

Hi all,

my app (e.g. let it called myApp 2)was rejected yesterday, because the previous version (myApp) has the same feature set as myApp2 and varies the content. Apps that replicate functionality with different content create clutter in the App Store, hindering users’ abilities to find apps. (That was written in apple's rejection email).

It's the same game with more features better graphics etc.

My plan was, that myApp will be removed from appstore as soon as myApp2 is available. Make it sense when I remove myApp from sale before I submit myApp2 again to Apple? Has got anybody the same problem or the same rejection case?

Sry for my english!

Default Why not call it an update?

That way you don't risk not having an app on the store for any time period?
If it is an update you will release when approved.

He wants it to be on the Recent Release page; therefore, he wants it to be a new app.

I want to release version 2 as a new app in the appstore. This app gets rejected because, there is still version 1 in the appstore, which is the same game. But version 2 has more features, better graphics etc.

The question is, would version 2 be rejected when version 1 is removed of the appstore before version 2 is in review?

For this reason NO, BUT they could get you for something else if they really wanted too

Default Release an update

It is not fair for your current users if you release an update as a new app. If you want to be on the new releases list, you have to release a completely new app.

When your current customers realize what is going on, you will get a lot of 1 star reviews.

When Apple realizes what is going on you will get banned.

Just play by the rules if you are a small developer.

If you want to play the new release game you can just develop for Android and release the exact same app every two weeks with a different name. Google will just thank you for increasing the number of Android apps.

This sounds more like a sequel than an update. Don't call it an update!

I'd say it is definitely an update and not a sequel. No matter what you try, Apple will likely block this unless it is released as an update.

After removal of the First Version, the App Was rejected again.

So I don't Know how to get the App In the Store. Before you misunderstand me here One example: i mean an App Version update like tweetie and tweetie 2. It has the Same Function, but the Handling and Look was updated. Anyway it was approved for the Store.

Sorry for writing. The iPad correction is horrible.

Your just going to have to add more to it if you want it be approved, unfortunately Apple feels that your new app is not different enough from your existing app to warrant submitting it as a new app. Citing existing apps will not help you, you will just get the standard response that new rules don't apply to existing apps.

So just work on adding more to it, or stop trying to submit it as a new app and submit it as an update.

Quit trying to scam your users (and Apple) and release it as an update.

"Apps that replicate functionality with different content create clutter in the App Store"

I really don't know how we're supposed to conform to this, it sounds like an anti spam measure but think about what they're saying. A strict literal translation of this is that no app can be anything like any other app. It's a judgement call by the reviewer and it sounds to me like the op is unlucky to have this case handled unreasonably.

Surely tangled 2 would fall foul of this as well?

The OP is very unlucky.

There are three new releases...same company...kids games...all have the same screenshots and description. They are basically all the same game.

The only difference?

The animal that plays the game.

Take a look at tengryprod...

Dolphin feast for kids
Dogs and kids
Horse festival for kids

Is Apple cherrypicking the rules?

Reviewers are human, so there are massive inconsistencies in what gets approved and what doesn't. I agree, the OP is kinda screwed here. Only thing I would suggest is keep trying to submit and make tweaks until they approve or you get a more understanding reviewer.
