Default How to make my application open source?

I don't want people to compile it and try and sell it as their own though. What do i do? Where to i host my app's source code? I'm guessing i go to google code to host it and get a license for my app from GNU?

Taking baby steps...

About the licensing I can't really comment, but for hosting your code you can use either Google Code or Github. They are both pretty good. I like github a bit better if that counts at all

As far as I know, if you make your app open source, then for anyone to use it at all they would need to compile it. Hence a copy of the source code would lie with them and they can potentially sell it.

If you really want to go open source and protect your source code, the best option is start a closed group and get your devs to sign an NDA.

Default There are different licenses

You can choose a license that prevents that. Some licenses are: Apache License, BSD license, GNU General Public License, GNU Lesser General Public License, MIT License, Eclipse Public License and Mozilla Public License.

For a good overview start here:
