Streaming audio in app, also getting credit in itunes?

I have a client who has a successful podcast in iTunes.

They would like to be able to stream the podcast in their app and also get 'credit' in iTunes (one more listen, higher ratings, etc.) at the same time or can credit for listens only come from when a user downloads a podcast through iTunes?

Is this scenario possible or are the two mutually exclusive.

Maybe my last question was not worded properly or something. Does anyone think I'm posting in the wrong forum?

If you were creating an app that revolved around the success of an existing iTunes podcast and you did not want to detract from the amount of podcast downloads by offering a stream of that that podcast in the app what would you do?

I am leaning towards not offering streaming at all in the app but instead when a users clicks 'play' in the app it simply redirects them into itunes on their iPhone and presents them with the podcast to download/stream there.

Does anyone have any input? Feel free to hypothesize.
