Congrats - always good to hear a "non-spammer" success how many downloads it took?

Downloads was at around 5k yesterday. I didn't expect this at all. I made the app free as a promotion for my other paid app (which is kind of a pro version of that app), AppliFX. But looking at the amount of 1 stars, I think it won't last long.
ow, 5k is quite good. i could never break 2k. So did it help your paid app sales?

No. Totally no big effect on the sales of AppliFX. the first day it went free, it did increase a little bit. from ~4-5 sales a day to 22. then second day, it's 8 sales. lol.
But seeing the free app there, kinda have some satisfaction feeling... and already, i am working on the update to add a new feature to the app, which i think completes it. it will be implemented on the AppliFX too, but AppliFX updates will go out once I collected around 6 or 7 new filters.
i was actually hoping to see some increase on the pro version though... even 20-30 per day would make me happy already. but.. err.. oh well. lol.. back to staring my macbook then.
TA used to be a really good place for indie developers, when I first released Tangled I got AWESOME feedback from the community but since then I have never been able to get feedback

That's smart now if Rocotilos forgets to change the app id, people will be getting to Tangled app
(just kidding)

It takes a lot of downloads for a free app to rank in the top 10, especially in the US AppStore. My "Battery Fun" app was downloaded thousands of times a day when I switched it from $0.99 to Free and it did not even come close to the Top 50.
Recently my paid app was for half of a day to rank #8 in Romania... This only a very few downloads (price of a pizza) to get there.

I updated the app and did a make over on it, even add a function, requested for expedite review and apple said yes, and the app was online in about 1 hour!. Saw some users uploading their creation to their flicker page, which is awesome to see! (im a photography buff myself).
