Our Game is Featured in the New and Noteworthy in France

This is our first posting from a long time forum reader...

Our latest game, X Invasion 2, is being featured in the New and Noteworthy section of the App Store for France. This was a complete surprise (pleasant) for us, as we were not notified by Apple. It has definitely helped out with sales!

We have a couple of questions:

1. Does being featured in one country increase the odds of being featured in other countries (being featured in the US would be great)?
2. Are most apps featured in one country at a time or the whole world?
3. Are there ways to find out where you are featured short of checking each country manually?

First, congratulations!

Getting featured in Europe *could* be a prelude to getting featured in the US. I read on Veiled Games old blog (link broken) that they were featured in the UK and, weeks later, in the US. I think Apple uses the European store as a testing ground to see what might be popular, and then picks the best of the bunch. I have little evidence for that idea, it's just a hunch.

It's not guarantee that you'll get a US feature, though. Dead Panic was featured in "New and Noteworthy" in different European countries at different times, but never made the leap to the US.

I'm not sure if there's any correlation, at least in my experience, but congratulations!

One of my apps, Political GPS, suddenly made around $1200 in one day (had been making around $20), and sure enough, I checked the US New and Noteworthy, and it was one of the featured apps. I had not been featured on any other countries' stores before that, though, and was only featured on the US Store (my app is pretty US-specific, though).

That took me up to #2 in Paid Reference apps for about a week, but after I was no longer featured, I dropped pretty quickly and am currently sitting around #45 in Reference apps.

Hopefully you'll have better luck than me with this
