I uploaded it on 11/23.
But my contract has to be approved first... hopefully it will be done before christmas.
It's a wishlist app so it would be bad for my sales... :/

Both of you have beated my wait record.
Are your apps really complexe?
Oh... and guess what, 5 minutes ago, I received an automatic reply to my email sent 2 weeks ago. Apple is confirming they received my email!!! LOL!
If it takes 2 weeks just to send an auto-reply, I guess I won't get an answer before 2009.
I think I win. Even though I am not even close to that amount of wait time. I submitted an update to my application a week and a half ago. Three days later they wanted me to make a simple change. Mind you, this change that they required went unnoticed through 2 other updates. They wanted me to disable the camera when an iPod Touch is being used. I was told to do a simple check, if the camera is unavailable, disable the button. No problem done. Today I received another email. This email stated that I must not have a button disabled. It can lead to user confusion. These two email contradict each other. I emailed them back telling them this. They told me just to re-upload the binary as-is. Should be interesting.
One option would be to check at the start and hide the button entirely. The other is to post an alert if a feature is attempted that can't be done with the current set up.
I submitted v1.1 of one of my apps last Tuesday. After v2.2 was released I rejected binary and resubmitted a new bug fixed version on Friday.
I'm sorry, but this message puzzled me. I'm about to finish my first app. Do you need SDK 2.2 to submit or else it will be rejected? This would require for me to update iphone to 2.2, and this one is tricky. so I'd rather stay on 2.0 which I have now.

No sorry for any confusion. I just found out that my app compiled with v2.0 had some issues if run on a phone running v2.2 firmware.

So I fixed these issues and resubmitted.
Oh, I see. Thanks a lot, I'll stay on 2.0 then .
This actually is an issue - to discover if app has no problem on all 2.x firmwares.. If I update to 2.2 I will know if it works on 2.2, but then I lose the ability to test on 2.0.
I've submitted my first client server app to Apple a bit ago, they were hitting the server quite a bit yesterday, but no letter one way or the other. Anyone have experience with approval time after they've been using your client-server app?

Yes a big problem. Apple really ought to allow developers to buy development iPhones without needing a Carrier contract. Guess one other way would be to buy an iPod Touch for testing but then you limit yourself to certain types of apps only and limited testing.

-C
what do you mean a client/server app?
Assume it will require no more testing than some of the more complicated apps, so expect a wait of between 3 days and two weeks...
I'm a little glad that I'm not alone out here waiting and wondering...
I submitted my first app on Nov 4.
I got the dreaded email saying:
Your application XXXXX is requiring unexpected additional time for review. We apologize for the delay, and will update you with further status as soon as we are able.
Thank you for your patience.
Regards,
iPhone Developer Program
... and I've been sitting here ever since.
I've called Apple. I got all the way through to the supervisor in California. She was very rude and basically told me that "if you don't like the way we're doing it, then go do business with someone else".
I was very polite, which is how I got to her...
So, even though I've been 'escalated' and such, and even though my app has celebrity endorsements and a media empire behind it... nothing.
My app only launches and then tells the user how much time has passed since the last time they launched the app.
It also contains 2 on screen buttons that take the user to a web site.
That's it. Total. Nothing else. Nothing nefarious, no naked ladies...

Weeks of waiting for approval...
so. yea.
That's disgusting! That's the reason I'll never spend more than a week to develop an application.
Sooner or later, Apple will regret that kind of behavior. Many companies overweighted the impact of the customers support (We did pay 99$, so I consider ourself as a customers).
It might not be a good example for people leaving outside Canada but over here we have a local telephony company named Bell. For many years, Bell had the monopole of the local telephony in canada because de government didn't allow any other competition. That company treated their customers like crap for many years... almost everybody over here have a story to tell about the lack of professionalism of their customers support department.
A few years ago, the governments removed the artificial monopole rule that was protecting Bell for any competition. Customers didn't wait... they switched to the competitor. Since then, Bell tried to improve the quality of their customer service but it was too late. Now Bell is in serious difficulty.
A bad customers service is often seen as an expense... Personally, I think it's an investment.

Well today I got that awesome email from apple. My app is taking an unexpected amount of time to review and they are sorry.
Hopefully that means that they are actually testing it. To be fair the app has a timer that runs for either 60 or 100 mins for my utility so if they need to test it fully then it should take a long time.
As bad as it sounds, im happy to get this email, at least i know something is happening.
I submitted my game in two versions on Sunday (23 Nov), a Lite (free) version and a full version. I got a really fast answer back that was sent from Apple on Monday afternoon. My full version crashed for some reason. The Lite version worked.
The Lite version was rejected, because I was showing levels in the Lite version with the text "(full version only)". This is not allowed, so I needed to remove any reference to the full version. I submitted both versions again on Tuesday morning and haven't heard anything since then. Still, I was quite surprised to receive the first answer so quickly.
I was hoping that the game could be released this week, but after reading about the amount of time it takes I guess I can just give up that idea.

It does seem they look at submitted apps quite quickly but then who knows what happens before it goes live. (What do Apple have to do to set up the record in the app store. Assume they have to copy and paste the text in, add the icon record and then place the app somewhere for it to be downloaded. I wonder how automated this system is).
Anyway back to my point; I got a reject message in a day; the resubmitted app took three days. Baring in mind its Thanksgiving for you guys, you may well get a confirmation tomorrow if my experience is anything to go by. Hope it goes well.
This was interesting. I received an answer yesterday evening Swedish time at about 8 pm. That's 2 pm Washington time, on a Saturday. Obviously, they work Saturdays as well.
The answer wasn't that good. Not Apple's fault, but apparently I'm doing something wrong because both apps are crashing on their side. I have to resubmit the apps today.
I submitted my application on October 17th. I'm STILL waiting for approval (on November 30th!). I have gotten no emails from Apple. It still says "In Review" when I look it up with iTunes Connect.
The application is quite simple and has no network or location features. It's called ObamArt, and as the name implies, was related to the presidential campaign. Obviously, I was hoping to get it online BEFORE the election. But, it can still be used to create wallpapers using Obama related artwork, so it's not completely irrelevant. I have emailed Dev Support twice about it.
Why are some apps getting approved in days, and others like mine being ignored?
kbaer -- have you tried calling the ADC number (you can find it in the contact us section of developer.apple.com/iphone )
They can escalate the issue... whatever that means... I recommend calling them and getting them to 'escalate' it, and then calling them once per week after that to check the status.. the squeaky wheel gets the grease...
