Submitted a big update on July 22nd, today is the 30th, and I'm still waiting. Haven't gotten any delay emails at all.
lately they have been taking for ever to approve updates, and its really getting old very fast. They say most approved in 7 days, 7 days my ***, the last 3 updates I have done have taken over 2 weeks each. One took almost a month, and I did not get a single delay email.
I submitted a new app on July 27th, and I bet it gets approved before this update does that was submitted a week before.
Thank you, I figured it out since then based on an other thread
However this is a very stupid system... what if I am on holiday when they approve?
...then your app is on holiday too I agree with you 100%.
Maybe someone can enlighten me and explain the benefits of the current release date system? Are there any?
Submitted on 22th approved today!! But when I try to open the app link on itunes it says it is not available in the US store yet. Does this happened to anyone?? This is the link: Gooooal 2009

I'm in the US and also getting the not available message. Maybe it just hasn't had time to update yet. Also, make sure the release date is not a future date.

What is the release date set to? -- You can change it within the first 24 hours or so of approval. (It takes a few hours to update after you change it.) Also, if you set the date to August 1st, because iTunes appeared to suggest today was the 1st internationally, it won't appear in the US store until midnight tonight. (This happened with me).

I checked again in iTunes Connect, the release date is set to July 31 2009 :P
EDIT: Now it's working! Just had to wait :P Thanks for your help!

Seems we experience a change of things. Not too long ago updates took "ages" (up to 4 weeks) and new apps went through pretty "fast"(about 1 week). Now, it seems to be different - at least for me.
My latest update only took 3 days! On the other hand, I submitted a new app on july 16th, which is still in review. Unfortunately, that's very frustrating.
The AppStore system giving advantage to frequently updated applications there obviously are a lot of developers who contently submit fake updates to gain more visibility. I'm wondering if this phenomenon itself is enough to saturate the approval wait list.

I think apple should start charging for update reviews, like $30 for example. It will cull the crap from the app store by making it unprofitable for poor quality apps to frequently update just for an incremental bump in sales by moving to the top of the release list. Good apps will be able to absorb the cost. Because updates will cost the developer, only apps that are getting good volume of sales will update and you'll stay at the top of the new release list for your category longer most likely recouping the review cost.

Why should we need to pay them more for something they're already making loads of money off of? Also, many crap apps make loads of money, so they would continue to bump better products from release dates/Top X lists. Quality != money.
Also, what about free apps? Would they pay? If not, a developer could just make their app free for a day, submit an update, and make it paid again immediately afterward.
Also, submitted a new app on the 21st, still waiting =/

Nah, paying for an update is something out of the question. At least for me. On the other hand, if you for example paid 30$ and that guaranteed a 3 days approval time - well I'd think about it.

Submitted on Friday July 17 -- Approved on August 1st
Took 15 days in the games category.
I got the approval email yesterday around noon, but the direct App Store link from iTunes Connect did not actually start working until this morning (22 hours later).

I got the approval email yesterday around noon, but the direct App Store link from iTunes Connect did not actually start working until this morning (22 hours later).
It's been over 26 hours now and my direct link still doesn't work (neither does browsing or searching). Waited over 2 1/2 weeks for an app to get approved and now you can't see it! Anyone else experiencing this at the moment?
The "your app is ready for sale" email this time includes a line like "if you contracts are not in effect at this time, your app won't be live in the app store" but my contracts are in effect, I have already a paid app in there...

What's going on?
An update to one of my apps was approved Saturday afternoon but the link still took you to the old version. Sunday morning you could search for the app and the new version would come up but it was not until Sunday afternoon before it appear in a general listing of applications in the Entertainment section.
I updated the screenshots early this morning and by early afternoon only 3 of the 5 updated images were showing. I just checked and 3 hours later another of the updated images is showing. One more image to go.
Since the middle of last week the app store has been extremely slow to update.

Submitted May 25th, finally approved today. This has been the worst one for me ever. And that is not all, this was the first collaboration I worked on with a mate, so now he has soured a little on the whole idea. I will change his mind though.
I submited an app on the 7th of JUNE, still hasn't been approved.. so going on 7 or 8 weeks now. I received a "your app is taking unexpected additional time for review" email about a week after I submitted.. is there any way to contact apple and see what is going on? should I resubmit the app to try for a new reviewer?
