I just submitted my first app about an hour ago... now awaiting my first rejection so I can get on with life
Just got the rejection email today (submitted 7/14) so that's not too bad.
I'm actually quite happy... it got rejected because the content rating was 'wrong' so it was easy to fix and resubmit!
It's on the website. But Apple should create a better way to let develpoers know what's going on or just hirer more testers to get the process done quicker. After 2 weeks of checking my email and iTunes connect my app finally pulled through!
I'm I so fed up with this waiting process.
It's specially irritating when you post a bug fix because you know you have a bugged app out there, the fix is ready but it takes two weeks for the 2 Apple internships to click on a approved button

Just submitted my first app Sunday, July 19th. You guys are scaring me with all of these horror stories about rejection and 2/3 week waits! Maybe I should get started on my next app in case of rejection and to pass the time...
That's what i personally do. I try to forget my submitted app and work on an other. In two weeks you've got time to do some work.
Anyway itunes from the developer perpective is definitely not professional grade. Waiting 2 weeks to submit a bug fix and to react to the market is definitely frustrating. I usually have version 1.2 ready when 1.1 is still waiting some approval, this is crazy.
One app:
July 5: Submitted
July 9: Delay Email
July 15: Delay Email
July 16: Call with Apple (Fixed an SDK mention in the Marketing Material)
Still waiting ...
Another app:
July 12: Submitted
July 22: Accepted
(haha I won't complain but damn, what about my other app?!)
I'm not quite sure how he's been doing it but I've been looking at new releases on entertainment almost daily and his apps keep popping up with updates.
Just checked on apptism and spot on every 7 days so far the developers update is approved.
We submitted on July 10th. No word whatsoever. Just curious, what is the e-mail address of the notifications (approval or time delay). I just want to double check our spam filters to make sure they are not blocking out anything weird.
Ugh, I guess that's a bit like picking up the phone to see if there is really a dial tone...

Yeah I also submitted on July 10 (except mine was a resubmission). By the way, the email address is appreview@apple.com
June 30 - submitted
July 8 - rejected
July 10 - resubmitted
No word as of July 23. Maybe tomorrow will be my lucky day considering it will be 2 weeks from resubmission.
just recently got my first ever "unexpected additional time for review" email.
its frustrating not knowing the reason and that it could be a long time till anything happens, while my users are already complaining about lack of updates *sigh*
oh well, now i have more time to spend on the other app i'm trying to get out.
Yeah it uses 3.0's bluetooth P2P/PeerPicker APIs and they said they couldn't get two devices to connect. This really frustrated me because I simply used the standard APIs for setting up the connection - nothing special. I've tested it hundreds of times and it is about 95% reliable (sometimes you've got to relaunch the app to get it to work, and sometimes it can take a few minutes to work). So I was really surprised to see that as the reason for rejection - maybe the tester didn't give it enough time to connect. I wonder how up-to-speed these testers are…
From what I've heard it is a positive sign that I've made it this long since submission. It seems like Apple goes through a two-step process in app reviewing - technical then legal. So apps that have not been rejected early-on have a higher chance of getting accepted or getting rejected from some legal issue.
I'm afraid my app is going to be rejected because in the how-to-play guide I use an icon of an iPhone to help users understand what happens when you rotate the iPhone to different orientations. From what I've heard this is prohibited (http://www.marco.org/98224131). Too bad, considering Apple does this itself in the Nike+ app bundled with new iPhones and iPod touches.

Nevermind! Playing Cards just got approved at 2:56 PM California time (5:56 EST)! Ended up being two weeks since my resubmission.
