App approvals must be very backed up --- I've had an app in the store for 7 days without a blip. Usually they have looked at it by the 4th or 5th day even if they don't approve it until the 10th. They have not even looked yet.
So much for planning the day of the week you want the app to get approved.
Funny, my app update was looked at five days ago, they approved it today without ever using it again. I think that they try to make sure that not too many apps are pushed out at the same day. They knew it was going to be approved five days ago. Why wait this long to actually release the update? I wish they weren't so "smoke and mirrors"

I am on day 9 since the binary was uploaded. And, they tested the update 7 days ago... so why are they holding off on approving it. Very weird, and frustrating.
I am sure they are are very busy with OS 3.0 and WWDC on the immediate horizon. Still, the approval process needs some tweaking.
Uploaded a free version of Sleuth yesterday, and I was wondering if anyone has experience with this situation. Paid app up for just about 3 weeks, free app loaded... Am I to expect the same 9 day review period, or will the review be expedited because the app is essentially the same except it has only 3 stories and not 10.
My app (TweetSpotter) was approved a few days ago, 7 days after the resubmission (was previously rejected...3 times). Similar to Jonusx, I saw that they looked at my app twice (on the day of submission and two days later), but the approval email did not come until the very end of the 7th day. (Btw I'm not using Pinch Media. TweetSpotter needs to talk to a server as part of its operation. That's how I can tell if Apple has looked at it.)
I have another new app that was submitted close to midnight on May 29 (Friday). We'll see if they are able to maintain the 7-day turnaround.

No expedited review according to my experience. The lite version will still be treated as a new app for review

7 day turnaround? There is no more 7 day turn around. The bar has been raised a few days at least.
quick off topic: my 1.5 update was approved yesterday. My sales were about 7-10 a day. I decided to make it free for a bit to celebrate (it was .99) As of 6pm, I have had 630 downloads. Is that normal for a free app, to have that many d/l's? I was thinking like 100 for the whole weekend.

An update is sitting at 11 days now. I have never had one go beyond 9. Something is different. I just wish Apple was a little more open about the process.
I submitted on May 24th, then had to quickly pull and resubmit the binary on the morning of the 26th. Still shows it's 'In Review', and I've heard nothing. Argh.
Can't type? Tap it! Secretly message your friends by tapping your pocket and receiving vibrations! Tap 8 if you're late
That's hilarious! Now if only you can incorporate morse code...
Good luck!
My app was rejected in three days time and I've since been waiting 1 day. (do they work on weekends?). Apple didn't like the fact that my icon was a marijuana leaf, I guess. I don't see why they can't just send you a notice that says, "change this and I'll approve of it," - that's not akin to the apple way. No, no. The 'Apple way' makes you have to guess as to why you can't make them some money. Because everybody would rather receive a pre-written rejection rather than a one-liner on why you're being rejected.
So, my app has been approved. Took about 9+ days. However, it went and showed up right away in the releases page. I speficily put June 7th as the release date but it still showed up as June 6th. Why is this?

Thanks! Yes in a future version we'll probably make an Advanced mode with 3.0+. Unfortunately with iPhone 2.x you can't control the vibration length or pitch, but we may be able to with 3.0+.

Yeah, mine was also rejected 3 times (one was also for an image)! And each re-submit takes 5-9 days for them to re-review. The process really sucks and needs to be improved, but they've got us by the throat. Good luck!
I submitted an app the first week of April. It is a simple app. After a week they rejected it for a content issue. I made appropriate changes and re-submitted mid April.
June 8th now and it is still in review. I have emailed them twice (trying to be patient) but it has been two months now. Both times I get an autoresponse that says my app is taking "unexpected additional review time". My second email to them requested some specific details as to the delay, but they sent me the exact same generic response as before. I understand they are busy, but my friend submitted, got rejected, re-submitted and accepted in 1/4 of the time. And this was during the same month of April.
Have I been put on some secret backburner? If they don't like the app, why don't they just reject it again. I feel it has been put in a "don't ever review this" category.
Any ideas on what i can do? Seems email is the only means of contact, and they just give me generic responses.
