Yeah they definitely work weekends. The job of approving apps is surely a low paid job, so Apple probably hired a ton of them, and have them work 7 days a week.
Just got 3 approved today, 2 submitted on the 17th, on on the 12 was rejected on the 18 with new binary uploaded on the 18th. It was rejected because I didn't check for a wireless/3G connection before I made a call to a webservice. I used Erica Sadum's example from her book and made a small tweek Chevol Davis Website for 3G and volla approved
I wrote my first app over the weekend. Last night I created the development build and submitted it with all of the meta data.
Date Submitted: 23 February 2009
It might have some questionable content (Not really, but I can see them needing a "manger" approval.) So I think I might get the dreaded further approval email.
Three apps waiting now (submissions on 2/10 & 2/19) with a fourth app being polished for submission later this week. All in review, no contact from Apple.

would love to start a thread of apps with "questionable" content or more mature themes. my next project is going to have a bit more sex appeal and don't see it being a problem esp with the wobbles, jiggles and bikini apps out there.
I submitted my app on the 18th and am still awaiting a reply. Because of the nature of my app, I was able to tell that they used the app yesterday (the 23rd), but I still haven't heard anything. It's frustrating to see that others have submitted their apps around the same time and have already heard back. How do some apps get approved quicker than others when submitted around the same time? Right now I'm just happy that my app hasn't been rejected yet.

I would guess it's a question about complexity of the app combined with what the app does in relation to the category your app is released in - but of course this is pure speculation - and there have been people posting about long waits on non-complex apps... Could be the reviewer as well, since one can read posts about people not getting anywhere in being approved, and then when rejecting the binary and resubmitting getting their app approved within days...
But I guess it's hard to tell... My first app was approved after 6 hours - I have issued one update to that one which took 2 weeks to be approved (and this was a simple bugfix, no other changes), while some people seem to get updates approved within days... My second app was approved in 4 days (Submitted the 18th just like yours). So I think it's really hard to see a pattern here...

Thanks. It's like Willie Wonka's Chocolate Factory over there, who knows what they're up to.
I did just finally receive a reply from them, and now I'm joining the ranks of those who've been rejected because I failed to check for network availability before calling a web service. Quick fix, no big deal, but I guess I will have to wait in line again. So for the record:

who knows? I've localised my latest app into 4 languages so does that mean the reviewer tries it in all 4 languages and checks my translations too? Who knows.
There are also occasions where a submitted app goes missing...this happened to an app I submitted last December - took a complaint to devConnection in late January for them to ask me to resubmit as there had been an "issue" with the binary.
The inconsistency and the fact there no definitive details of what happens in the review process is the biggest problem with the app store...but at least we are all aware of these issues and I assume so too are Apple.

It might be a good idea if we created a list of common iphone technical rejection reasons, so someone can go through a checklist before submitting to save some time.
Just submitted my first app (2/25, 9am). I never even had an iPhone till January 1. Two months of learning a new language, etc. I will soon see how it turns out.
It's an action/arcade game. The one detail that has me fearing a possible rejection, is that on the help screen I have an iPhone line art graphic. I made this image using a photo as a starting point. They might not like this, we'll see...
Well, I'm back in the waiting room with everyone. Rogue Touch came out last Thursday, we had a pretty enthusiastic group of folks download it and give us tons of feedback and special requests!
I'd planned on doing a quick refresh update over the weekend to keep us on top of the list (with new equipment and magic) but all these special request things added several days to my work-load...
Just submitted the update at 12:45AM 2/25/09... I guess updates are taking as long as new submissions right now so the wait begins again
