I think I found out why I got this letter. I had the Lite version on "99 cents" by accident. I changed it. Maybe I should resubmit.

Can anyone give me a walkthrough of the update process? My 1.5 update was approved, but in itunesconnect still says Review. Do i have to remove the 1.0 application?

I submitted an app on Feb 4th. It's called "iGat." I'm guessing you know what the theme is (guns.)
Anyway, the app is basically the image of a realistic gun pointing at you
When you press down on the screen the gun "fires" in the form of multiple realistic muzzle flashes. The selected gun sound is also played.
If you press edit a picker wheel animates up from off the bottom of the view and you can select from over 40 different gun sounds.
Well, I received the dreaded "Your application is requiring unexpected additional time for review" on Feb 9th.
I still haven't heard anything. Do you think I should just wait or reject the binary and resubmit? They didn't say there was anything that needs changing. Dunno what to do
Is it the subject matter that causing the holdup? What about iSniper? that has to be more violent than mine. Ive had both a lite and full version app approved since then plus another one of my apps got an update approved all since after submitting iGat.
We submitted an application for review on December 8th and it's still in review. We received an email last week about it taking longer than usual. Thanks Apple.

Just hang in there... without any feedback there aren't any meaningful changes you can make. If you reject the binary you will go to the back of the queue and wait all over again.

That is extreme, the longest wait I have had was 10 days. What is the content of the application? Could that be holding it up?

It's completely within the guidelines of the dev contract. There's no questionable contract, there's no usage of private API's, it doesn't duplicate a feature. In fact, no one offers anything like it.
There's really no reason for them to hold it up. My guess is that Apple is planning on releasing their own application that duplicates our functionality and it's being held up for that reason. Or maybe something else. Who knows!
Submitted February 14, app rejected and re-uploaded by myself on February 17, received "ready for sale" e-mail February 22 (on a Sunday!). I can't find the program on the App Store yet, but I guess it will be there within a day or two.
The app is named "Glaurung" and is a free chess program: The strongest chess program for the iPhone so far.
Unfortunately, the timing for the "ready for sale" status could have been better: I've discovered and fixed a serious stability bug in my program today. I suppose it's still not too late to reject my app and upload the bugfixed version, but I think I'll let it pass and submit a 1.0.1 version to Apple as soon as possible instead.
