Well, I was dreading a LONG LONG wait for my first app (Crosswords / Downwords), but it was less than six days. Woke up this morning to find the email waiting for me:
Aug 29, 2010 05:16 Waiting For Review
Sep 03, 2010 12:47 In Review
Sep 03, 2010 15:00 Processing for App Store
Thanks for all the info. It has helped to keep me sane,

It doesn't make sense that your app was reviewed within 1 day.
My guess is we either got lucky, or the review was fasttracked because it supports Game Center, and Apple wants a lot of Game Center enabled apps when iOS 4.1 is released.

I submitted mine very early on the 31st and it just went from Waiting for Review to In Review this afternoon. It is currently still "In Review". I wouldn't worry about it. One week is not a guarantee.
I don't think the App Reviewers are very smart. I sent an email to appreview@apple.com asking about an app that has been in review for quite some time.
My email said,
I am Tyler Brassfield, developer of iDevotions by Steve Higginbotham App, APP ID 123456890, submitted August 30, 2010. I would like to know if everything is going according to schedule for my review.
They wrote back.
Please include the following information for us to accurately help you:
1. Application Name
2. Application ID
3. Date of last binary submitted
Correct me if I'm wrong, but, didn't I put all that info in my original email?
It's now September 8th and it's still waiting to be reviewed.
Do you think I should resubmit? It doesn't make sense that your app was reviewed within 1 day.
Resubmitting is a terrible idea you will be put at the back of the queue.
Don't pay any attention to "Waiting for Review" or "In Review" they are meaningless. I've been "In Review" within 1 minute of submission. From my perspective "Waiting/In" are the same thing.
September 06, 2010 02:08 Upload Received
September 06, 2010 02:01 Waiting For Upload
September 01, 2010 20:12 Prepare for Upload
When I mouse over the status it says that the binary should be processed in the next 24 hours...it's been nearly 72 =/
Anyone else experience this?
Contact Apple immediately. From their iTunes Connect Developer Guide:

Any idea which path to use?
Clicking the "contact us" in "... you should contact iTunes Connect Support through the iTunes Connect Contact Us system." just takes you back to the beginning.

Man this retarded...
Try e-mailing appreview@apple.com. I've heard they usually respond quickly to requests like this. Good luck!

Does this seem to be a little too long? I emailed appreview@apple.com with my app name, ID, and date submitted. They sent back an email telling me for them to help me I needed to include my app name, ID, and date submitted. Waited 24 hours for that response, lovely. Should I be worried that mine is not really in Queue?
So, App #3 resubmitted to Apple on 9/8/10. Waiting for Review...
