Please post what sort of promoting you did and people you paid to achieve this point of sales.
Me, purely free advertising, paid no one. Pulling in ~400 sales/day now @ $0.99 or 2800/week.
My first app ever has been in the store for about 4 days now, and combined worldwide it's selling around 5/day average without any form of advertising :\ Any advice?

You can try to market it more aggressively: create a website, tune it for SEO, post updates on Twitter, participate in user forums, submit it for app review. The bottom line is you need to put it in front of as many eye balls as you can, the AppStore 100 Top list is not the only way to sell 100+ copies a day
Sales is a different number than revenue. I make money in other ways besides just sales. Around $1500-$2500/day.
I would love to make 1/10 of that. Of course, I am a full time student so unfortunately I can't devote all the hours that I want to. I do have some new stuff brewin' though, including a new, much improved website which is the start of my new plan (Actually, my only plan, I didn't really start with one...)
This is a bit pointless. Why does number of sales matter, if you can't specify what your app costs? Not everything is priced at $0.99.
everybody knows that a 1.99 app counts as 2 sales per unit, so on and so forth.
also, rocotilos, i would be embarassed if my more serious apps were being outsold by my boob app lol. it's only moving about 20-30 a day at most thank god.

Who is "everybody", I didn't know that is what you intended. Why not just ask how much money everyone makes per day? I probably won't reply to the poll because its too much works to go through all my apps and multiply sales by price divided by .99 and add it to a total.
I assume you don't want to count free app "sales"? You can make just as much if not a lot more on free apps with advertising. I could tell you I get 600,00 sales per day of my free apps, but that doesn't mean I made $400,000.
Basically, its a pretty meaningless poll without asking for $ totals - and even then, whats the point? We know a minority of devs make a TON of money, and the majority make very little.

I honestly didn't expect the highest number to be less than 10 sales a day. Really, that shocked me so I'm glad this thread is here for others with the same misleading perspectives of independent development.
The most common way devs are getting their numbers is open up iTunes Connect sales/trends report and look at the top numbers. This is the information the poll is asking. (of course, thats a per dollar number)

I'm on the low end, averaging about $8-15 a day with my four paid apps. Well, KingDrinker has sold a whopping 3 copies in the month since it's been out, so you might as well say $8-15 with my three paid apps. I just submitted a new game that I hope will have a little more mass appeal so hopefully my numbers increase. I thought the same thing about KingDrinker though. heh.
This is a pointless question. A few people make a ton, many people make next to nothing. Neither has any relation to what YOU will make. If everyone answered that they make $5k/day, that doesn't mean your app will. If everyone says they make 3 sales/month also means nothing.
Think of it like this: Make a good app you will make more than the manager of the gas station, except you won't have to go in to work. Aside from that, results will vary greatly and the odds are against you.
