Default Price Drop Question?

I've noticed that when I've dropped my price from $1.99 to $0.99 I sell the same amount of units. So I never found it worth it.

Due to some recent exposure, I'm very fortunate to now be on the Top 50 in Entertainment...I'm now wondering if dropping the price would help push me up the rankings?

Does anyone have any experience with this?

Sidenote: I also noticed that reviews are more positive when people have some sort of investment with your app. Seems like they have to know they really want the app if it's valued higher than $0.99, leading to less negative reviews.

I don't think so, plus you might get some resentment from the people that paid the higher price

I agree but only to a certain extent... Every app is different and rank does count.

No one can give you a definite answer. If you're the adventurous type, lower the price and test for a few days. If you want the safe rout keep it the same. The key is whether the lower price drives the rank up and if the higher rank equates to enough sales to make more profit than the higher price.

IMHO leaving it at 1.99 is the best route. In the past when I've lowered prices I've only seen an increase in downloads, no increase in revenue. Also lowering your price can potentially attract people that would just buy it on a whim and then leave you a crap rating when they realize its something they dont want.

Thanks. This is all great advice. Leaving it at $1.99 is defiantly what I'll do.
