Talking An open video appeal to Steve Jobs

After getting an app rejected for "minimal user functionality", I decided to make a video appeal to Steve Jobs.

Check it out at:

Spend less time making usless videos and start making apps that aren't junk, it will make you succeed

Ugh, I just lost 3:04 of my life. Slayer5150 can be abrasive at times, but I'd have to agree with him 100%. Actually, I hope Apple pulls all those other crappy minimal functionality apps that were cited in the video OUT of the store too. Please, anyone thinking of making apps like this, take the video as a warning, and don't waste your time or Apple's.

Katching.... Katching... Katching....

Oh, I don't know, I think the free market is capable of sending messages, and right now it's telling us "you guys are a bunch of geeks that just don't get it."

Says the guy who talked about recording the quantum state of an object in the "Teleporting" game thread

These things are a big waste of time, and only clog the app approval queue that could be better served with something that actually has "minimally useful functionality"

Guilty as charged . But seriously, I have to accept that it has value as long as someone is willing to pay for it. In fact, I have to accept that that's what "has value" means.

Oh, @slayer, I'm having a hard time coming up with a definition of the word "success" by which iFart does not completely kick your ***.

Im glad they denied your app. It is worthless... I understand developers complaining about being rejected for other reasons but ONLY when they have a GOOD app. That app probably took you less time than you wasted on making that horrible video... Take that junk to Android. They might even Feature you!!!

I don't think it should have been denied. That Cramer guy that talks about stocks on cable (Mad Money) has a Ka-Ching button on his show and Staples has a whole ad campaign designed around the "easy" button which doesn't even make a sound.

I am sure there are a lot of companies that would sponsor that app as a promotional item with their logo on it and a lot of people would download it.

I can see myself clicking it every morning when I check my sales report or every time that I get a new app approved or an app makes the top 100 or I get a monthly payment report.

The app wasn't reject for minimal value, minimal humor, minimal market appeal, etc. The app was rejected for "minimal user functionality" which seems valid as no one has tried argue that point on this thread (I bet someone will now).

The app store is littered with minimal functional apps but may be Apple is turning over a new leaf.

I believe Apple should charge like $100 per app and like $40 per update. This would take care of useless apps.

Every normal store charges fee per item. This prevents spamming. Otherwise average dev can generate one kaching app every 30 minutes and flood the hell out of appstore.

The time you wasted in making this "lovely and innovative video" you could have actually used to make this App useful in any way.

Dragging a button in the IB, assigning a sound to it and calling it an APP is a disgrace to the iPhone, us developers and everything that moves or flies

I'm enjoying this so much that I'm not going to say anything more to give away the punch line.

For sure, no doubt the app has very little functionality and should not be approved..... but my question is why the hell discrepancy is approval process... the guy showed some other apps which r equal or worse , but unfortunately they were approved... i guess those apps should also have been rejected. Not sure , if apple recently started to reject these sort of apps.

Well... Apple needs to stop these apps at some point. Right? Too bad they started with a guy who is capable of making videos

Jokes aside... it was a big mistake to approve any low value app like that at first place. (no offense) Lowering the treshold soooo much made this 'editorial approval' process seem like a dunno what. Many of us posted here about inconsistency regarding the approval process... the existence of this video proves us being right. Software development should never come to this. This approval process *should* forbid developers even to think of 'fart' and 'ka-ching button' apps.

In reality however, I just got rejected for a keyword issue.

Nope, no CB. It's my coming game Joovia Extreme Sports
Got rejected for the 'not appropriate' word '****'. There was ***** listed as keyword also, so I removed that, too. Inconsistency, you say.

Nevertheless, the message was kind, polite, and detailed enough.

It was the double-fun starts with 'b' or 't'.

I can see the poor editor sweating like " ...'not relevant' no, not good... hey, can somebody come up with something for this app? 'Try not appropriate' Ah, ok, thanks!". -- Not appropriate is, honey for hot dog, that is.

Anyway, thanks. I don't expect anything big, though. Financial success does not seem to do anything with app quality in this realm.
