iPhone App Store - Release Date order very strange
Does anyone know what's happening to the iPhone App Store under 'Release Date', this does not seem to show in order of release date at the mo and has been playing up over the last week as far as I can tell, in Games->Sport-> release date has the top one released at 3rd March!!!, the next is the 27th November!!! Is this a glitch or are they really playing about with this, is there an official line on what's happening?
I'm also seeing some strange things when going to the sports section.
If i click sports it shows some new apps at the top, then i click most popular and go back to Release Date all the new apps (12th and 13th) just disappear...

Yes that seems to happen in the mac/pc Itunes App Store, not too worried about that, its more the app store on the iPhone, the order of the released just has no logical order at all as far as I can tell, I've checked on my iPhone and iTouch and they both have that odd order, can anyone shed any light on this?

Here is a note of what I'm currently seeing on the App Store on the iPhone (UK Store):
Games - > Sports - Released Date
Fantasy Baseball Dr.. - 3rd March 2009
Super Strike - Volley Ball - 27th November 2009
Ball Toss - 17th Jan 2008 !!!
...etc
So doesnt look by release date, not by alphabetical order, cant really figure out what order it is at all, all I can think of is it's a glitch that will hopefully be sorted soon, although I've been seeing odd orders over the last week.
The App Store in iTunes on the PC/Mac looks pretty much fine, apart from it does not seem to update quite a fast as it used to, for example you set a released date on your app and it can take a day before it shows correctly. This used to be really good so I can only hope it's temporary.
Anyone know anything about this at all? I've emailed apple to see if they can shed any light on this.
I think SOME people will benefit from this and others will suffer.
Thanks for the reply, yes the same apps have been near the top of the release list for a long time now and they are bound to benefit for the long exposure, there is little incentive to submit updates until this is sorted. I wonder if this is a tactic to ease the number of updates being submitted or is simply a glitch in the system that they are working hard to fix, it's a big fix isnt it, sort order on date hmmmm, take at least a month that will boss, doh. The iPhone and app store are fantastic, it's been brilliant having this platform to develop on but glitches like this really do rub developers up the wrong way .
Just looked at the finance category and it was fine. Health and Fitness was still broken.
BTW, this is the Australian app store.

How does Games -> Sports look? They all still look broken here in the UK, it's encouraging some progress seems to be made though, was the finance category broken before and has it just started looking ok?
I'd be interested to know what the cause of this was and if this is likely to be a regular occurance.
On a positive note I've just watched the keynote speech for V3.0 and it's looking excellent, this really is a brilliant platform, just a shame these issues pop up to take the shine off.
i'm on the Canada app store and my new app is in the Games->strategy and Games->board category. both are messed. At the top of the board games section by release date is scrabble, released JULY 9, 2008!! lol not even close to right.. I really hope they fix it before my app is too old to be on the list lol..
Oh and at the top of the strategy games category by release date there is some game called Lumen, released JANUARY 5, 2009. Better, but what about my march 15 app lol.

Here is what I am seeing in Seattle, WA USA. No changes for over a week now. This is 3.0 Beta screenshots, but this also occurs on my wife's iPhone,who is running 2.2.1.
My app was approved yesterday. Shows up in search but does not show up in any 'release date' results. Obviously this is true on the devices because of the release date bug but it does not show up in the store on the computer either - not even under the other sortings such as name. So basically my app does not exist, and my sales reflect it

YEA, my apps been on the store for 5 days and had 2 sales... its on no list, just comes up when you search Boltz or Bolt. Very embarassing lol
Not much payment for the hard work so far, I was hoping on earning back the dev fee
and probly by the time its fixed, itll be too old to show up lol
Seems to be working about 80% now... sorting by release date is working in most categories. There still seems to be a little lag on the first day of release until app shows up, but basically working now.
