I have been trying to figure out this error for the last two days and I finally was able to fix it. So I am posting this in hopes that if anyone else has this it will help.
There is a lot of different ways that people fixed it. So here are a few links, then I will tell how I was able to fix it.

Here is a great post that eventually led me to fixing my problem:
XCode error 0xE8000001 while installing app on iPhone at 9MMEDIA Blog
The problem with this error is that there is no one way to fix the problem.
Here was my situation and how I fixed it:
I had a private app that needed to be installed on 12 ipod touches. I wrote the program and it worked fine on my touch. The problem was is that I kept getting this error when I tried to install on their touches. After many hours I found out that the problem was that they installed applications from iTunes on a PC. So whenever I tried to install from xcode on my mac I got this error. So I restored one of their touches from my mac and it installed fine. They were also able to install apps from their PC fine.
I hope that this post is helpful for anyone trying to fix this.
