I am sure many out there can share my pain, with all the waiting, lack of transparency, one at a time email fixes and the overall terrible function of the appstore shopping experience. But I have to say, I was ready to put all that behind me after my application was finally approved. I was ready to move forward and get this thing promoted and onto some phones.
I thought too soon!
Today I started to test the application from my wife's phone, downloading it from the mobile app store. Right away, I noticed something wrong with the application, it looked different! For some reason, the version available on the appstore starts off with a screenshot image inside the UIWebview. I NEVER coded this or included this image, which makes me wonder is Apple changing the app(s) on their end when they feel like it?
On top of that, the app doesn't even work now! Certain features of the application stopped working! As well, the design I made for the background of the application, is not even showing. I have tested this now in various methods; os 2.0, os 2.1 and via downloading from mobile app store and itunes. Always the same issue, which is basically Apple posted a wrong version of the app, and even more disturbing it seems they modified it!
I might be a little crazy, but I am not stupid. I never coded this startup image into the app, as well the background image has been a part of my application development since my second submission (I had to submit three times).
So I have resubmitted my program as version 1.01 as the FINAL version AGAIN and contacted them to update ASAP (which I assume means 5-7 days!). The crap thing is I already sent out demo codes to promotional contacts, all of which have downloaded this rubbish version Apple posted. Really killing my applications credit, and my own self reputation. This really has pissed me off to say the least.
Has anyone else experienced this sort of trouble? This is the icing on the cake of this terrible process called 'development for appstore.'
