Yeh I assume that the legal / accounting team would be separate to the release team, but I'd also assume that the legal & accounting teams would be heavily involved with a new release as well. I wouldn't expect Apple to have a team dedicated solely to sorting out financial reports and not do any other duties.
Aaaanyway, fingers crossed for either reports today, or an amazing event later on! Or both!
