This sounds like a great app for infants and babies! I myself have mixed feelings about designing apps for young children, given that over-exposure to moving and flashing images may over-stimulate or negatively influence childhood development. I say this even as a developer of my own app for babies:
Baby Smart Cards: 70 different images of animals, scientists, musicians, and objects from a baby's everyday life meant to stimulate infant mind and vision. At 3 - 6 months, the eye can only really resolve images with thick lines and high contrast (i.e. black and white). The human eye is a good example of a high-contrast image that babies love to look at.

Winzki Apps are a suite of five little Apps (so far, one more already in review and even more to come) we call "Sounding pictures". Slide with a finger to switch between photos of animals, objects or people performing a task. Once you tap one of the photos, you'll hear the natural sound of what you see.
The main focus was placed on usability for little children, so it does not matter if you rest a finger on the display while you tap with another finger. Also all objects have been placed in an appealing environment, so there's always a steady background and some interactive part to play with.
Here you'll find all Winzki Apps listed with their iTuns Shop URL: " Sounding pictures as iPhone apps for children
The apps are real fun and have been developed with great attention to detail, as they were initially only developed as entertaining apps for my son (24 months). From how he likes to play with these apps, I guess they will be appealing to many more little boys and girls, too.
There's even a free "Lite Winzki" to try it out:

And please don't forget to rate it for what it is: A small app for kids that does not kill all fun by an accidentally pushed "info" button or ads. In words: It's a Five-Star-Vote . There are no ads. Not even in the "Lite Winzki". None of the apps use spoken or written language anyways, except for the splash screen of course.
Have fun playing Winzki apps with your kids!
