I had a similar experience with some of the sites that requested an iTunes gift certificate to do the review. Most of them did really sub-par reviews for very lightly visited sites. One site even complained that we didn't offer a high score list, when it was right there when you finish a game... Laughable, I guess he didn't even play.
It's been my experience that the sites that do the best in-depth reviews are the ones that purchase the games themselves and don't request money from you.
