How obvious was the supposed "copyright" material? When I spoke to an Apple reviewer last week I asked about copyright issues (potentially an issue for an app I am working on) and was told quite clearly that Apple was not interested in being the "copyright police". Unless something was really blatant it would only become an issue if the copyright holder complained to Apple about it, in which case they would pull the app and put you in touch with the complainant's lawyers.
Another example of inconsistency?
