I got to 77 in education using 40 promo codes + 17 sales over 2 days.
The point I am trying to make is if u could use a forum like this to redeem 50 codes within say 6 hours, that should be enough to make a 'blast' into the top 100 of most categories. Your app would then have the chance to stick, or will slide out again.
The other way is to get honest reviews and ratings to 'climb' into the top 100 and hopefully stay there.
The first way would be good for themed apps like Halloween or Christmas.
The second way would be good for a games that took 3 months to develop.
