Well, I don't want to get *too* specific, but I will say that at the time I held that rank, being the #1 RPG wasn't even enough to get you into the Top 100 of all Apps. At least not in the USA... In Japan, being the #1 RPG was enough to to get you into the Top 25 of all Apps over there!
This all happened during a week that I was featured by Apple, had a big update approved, and held my one and only 99 cent sale (the rest of the time I've been steady at $2.99). Pent up demand from app-snipers looking for a sale may have helped add fuel to the fire. Once the feature moved to page 2, and I slid down in the recent releases, and ended my sale things tumbled back to earth quickly.
Tough competition out there. Needless to say, I never got rich, but I learned a lot and am re-investing profits from it into my next few games in the design stages. If all goes well these are going to go WAY beyond Rogue Touch. Maybe I will get to be the king of a tiny corner of the App Store again someday
