In Apple's view, cheaper cost for development and distribution, less barrier for entry, so they thought about more restrictions.
But, still some people got lucky, with less effort than most people.
Mac OS X is an OS for desktop or laptop, it's a bit different game. There are less iPhone / iPod touch type of consumers using the desktop or laptop.
That's why I'm also trying to focus my future plans on Mac OS X apps development.
